Overview

• FireFly is a wireless sensor network platform
  developed at CMU for
• Surveillance and Remote Monitoring
• Real-time control in Industrial and Factory
  Networks.
• Asset tracking and inventory tracking
• Each low-cost node is battery operated and
  equipped with multiple sensors.
• A node communicates with its neighbors to form a
  scalable mesh network.

• FireFly operates on a Time Division Multiple
  Access (TDMA) link layer
• All nodes are capable of hardware-based and
  software-based sync
• The lifetime of FireFly nodes is close to optimal
  and outperforms energy-efficient Carrier Sense
  protocols
