Title: What is DiDA?

1
What is DiDA?
  • DiDA stands for Diploma in Digital Applications
  • It is a modular course of which you can do 1, 2
    or 4 modules
  • 1 module is called AiDA (Award in Digital
    Applications) This equals 1 GCSE
  • 2 Modules is called CiDA (Certificate in Digital
    Applications) This equals 2 GCSEs
  • Those with ICT lessons within normal timetabled
lessons should complete 1 module in year 10 and
choose a second module to complete in year 11

2
What modules are there to choose from?
Everyone must start with D201 Using ICT
3
What do I have to do in my first module?
  • As in all DiDA modules you will need to present
your work in an E-portfolio (or website). No
    print-outs will be marked.
  • You will have to
  • Plan a project and adjust and update your plan as
    you go along
  • Develop a survey and analyse the results using
    spreadsheet software.
  • Create a database to store data, interrogate it
to find certain information and create reports to
    communicate that information.
  • Create some print-based material using a desktop
    publishing package
  • Create on-screen material such as an information
    point using presentation software.
  • Present evidence to show your work in your
    E-portfolio
  • Evaluate your work and suggest improvements

How will I know what to do?
  • You will find all of your D201 coursework tasks
    online.
  • Edexcel will set you a brief online. This is
called your Summative Project Brief or SPB.
  • This is last years SPB
  • http//www1.edexcel.org.uk/dida-d201/html/SPB201Ho
    mepage.htm
  • As you can see there are symbols to show where
marks are awarded and which items are required in
    your Eportfolio.
  • You will start your D201 coursework using the new
    SPB after October half term.

5
What now?
  • As you have not had ICT lessons since year 8, we
are putting together some recap lessons to help
    you prepare. These are
  • Creating print-based documents (3-4 lessons)
  • Creating on-screen resources (5 lessons)
  • Carrying out a survey and data analysis (3
    lessons)
  • Creating a database (3 lessons)
  • Once you start your D201 coursework using the
SPB, you will be working independently and will
be expected to solve problems yourself.
  • We will be able to give some guidance but it is
very important that you pay attention and work
    hard during these preparation lessons.

6
Year 10 AiDA homework
  • Collect an example of at least one print based
    document
  • Identify the audience
  • Identify two good features about the design and
    explain why
