Although the contest leaves a great deal of
freedom, we have chosen to start from a physical
place. Why start from a concrete place? We are
convinced that a project must pursue innovative
and original aims it must be the result of the
interpretation of the genius loci and therefore
it can never overlook the characteristics of a
place. So the aim of the analysis has been
to contextualize our proposal in order to create
a transverse, universally applicable and
method. The choice of the place fell on a
geographic area of Sardinia the Sarrabus region.

The Sarrabus region extends over the entire
southeastern coast of Sardinia, virtually it is
at the center of the Mediterranean Sea and
includes several towns Villassimius
Castiadas San Vito Muravera Villaputzu

In this geographic area there are some of the
most beautiful holiday resorts with a strong
potential for development Villassimius Costa
Rey Porto Corallo Quirra

The preliminary analysis started from two
theoretical presuppositions. The first one
consists of a virtual application of the
controversial PPR (Regional Landscape Plan) that
redesigns the coastal area where it is possible
to construct, thus protecting the landscape but
also drastically limiting the expansion of
building along the coast. The second one comes
from the historical and archaeological analysis
of the insular territory Sardinia is studded
along its coasts by a series of towers built at
strategic points. These range in time from the
prehistoric nuraghe towers to the Aragonese tower
and to those of the erected before and during the
Second World War to ensure military control of
the territory.

We have imagined that the sea has risen to flood
the land up to the new statutory coastline. We
then identified some new points that are
strategic for the environmental and energy
control of the territory, no longer military. It
is important to say that the new points were
fixed on a paper relief map, thus verifying that
they visually communicated with the ancient
strategic nuclei we then created a network, a
link between old and new, nuraghe and modern.

It is contemporary man, "the homo technologicus"
with his knowledge and environmental conscience,
who takes up residence in this new coastal
system he has a new aim, control of the
environment and energy. The hypothesis of the
practical implementation of new settlements is in
the form of a diffuse architectural typology, a
territorial symbol, an architectural form which
is also a large-scale metaphor capable of
grafting the future on the past, thus renewing
it. The idea of the plan is to create a
diffused system of strategic housing units, a
series of single micro-icons that are at the same
time parts of a system, producers and catalysts
of energy. The settlement is capable of
exploiting the resources created by tourism
and natural resources. This ensures profitable
use of resources both by the resident population
and temporary visitors.

The settlement becomes an energy producer, no
longer an energy guzzler, but an energy
producer. This is our interpretative metaphor
of the energy concept not a single central
light, from which the rays depart, but many small
energy units. Many small cells which with the
connections and overlapping of structures form
the system.

Our aim was not only to find a solution for the
site "Sardinia" but it was to study a total
method of reading and interpretation of the
territory. We have left therefore identifying
for strategic new point two influence sectors,
the first of the diameter of 2 km and the second
of 5. 2 km because is the middle distance which
a man easily covers onby walk without the help of
transport means. 5 km is the energy action ray we
are supposing for the house core (about 1000
inhabitants). Inside these 5 km we have
analysed the system of the resources

then with a set of Pie charts whom is possible
obtaining a first reading of the territory and
his ambient vocation
