Christopher Columbus
Christopher Columbus (1451- 1506) was an Italian
explorer who sailed across the Atlantic Ocean in
1492, hoping to find India and China. He made a
total trips to the Caribbean and South America
during the years 1492-1504.Christopher Columbus
sailed for King Ferdinand 2 and Queen Isabella
of Spain. On his first trip, Christopher Columbus
led an expedition with three ships, the Santa
Maria and about 90 crew members.

Leif Eriksson
Leif Eriksson was a Norse explorer who led what
was probably the first European expedition to the
mainland of North America. Leif Ericsson was the
son of Erik the Red, who established the first
settlement in Greenland. Leif Eriksson Became the
leader of this settlement after his fathers
death. His name was also spelled Ericson,
Ericsson. Leif Eriksson was born in Iceland,
near what is now Budardalur. His family sailed to
southern Greenland about 985, and his father
founded a settlement near present-day Qaqortoq.
