Magna Carta
  • Who demanded this agreement?
  • A group of English nobles
  • In 1215, the group of English nobles
    forced King to respect their rights. They made
    the King approve a document listing rights the
    King couldnt ignore. This document is known as
    Magna Carta, or Great Charter.

Effects of Magna Carta
  • What were the effects of M/C.
  • The M/C led to more changes, involving
    war and financial troubles. The Kings turned to a
    council of nobles for advice and money.
  • What were three demands, and why were they
    important?
  • They was important because they helped the
    nobles be more free and allowed to do a little
    more than what they used to thanks to Magna Carta.

  • Religious order A group of people who dedicate
    their lives to religion and follow common rules.
  • Living apart from society Monks lived apart from
    society, but two new religious orders developed
    for those who wanted to live and teach among
    people.

    order.
  • Friars Members of religious orders who lived and
    worked among the general public.
  • Living within society Friars were the people
    that were called Dominicans, which are people who
    made their own rules.

  • Thomas Aquinas Philosopher who showed how
    religious faith and reason could co- exist.
  • Created by the religious leaders Thomas Aquinas
    developed a philosophical system called natural
    law to show how god had ordered the world.
  • Students took test then and now Scholars wanted
    to establish a connection between religious faith
    and intellectual reason.

  • In the PowerPoint I discussed the differences and
    the similarities of Monks and Friars. I also
    explained to you about universities and religious
    teachings. I also told you about the Christianity
    and the Medieval society. I also told you about
    living within society and living apart from
    society. The monks lived in and the Friars lived
    in.

  • French king dies no heirs and two men claimed the
    throne.
  • The two men that claim the throne, one was French
    and the other one was the king of England.
  • English take the lead by winning the war until a
    girl peasant named Joan of arc.
  • Joan of arc was a teenage peasant girl who joined
    the army, then got caught and killed.

Results of the war
  • Changes in England, one was parliaments power
    grew because the king needed parliaments approval
    to raise money to pay for the costly war.
  • Changes in France, one was the kings power grew
    because he became very popular during the war
    with his nobles. Fighting the English created a
    bond between them.
  • Democracy in France will have to wait because the
    English were attacking them.

  • The plague came from central and eastern Asia.

  • Fleas that feasted on the blood infected rats
    passed on the plague.

  • One form called bubonic plague could be
    identified by swellings called buboes that
    appeared on victims bodies.

  • The black plagued killed so many people that many
    people were buried without ceremonies or priests.

  • They cleaned up their sewers and many it slowed
    many people from dying, but it still exists today.

  • The black death killed many people and it created
    these little bumps called buboes on many peoples
    bodies. After a while they cleaned up their
    sewers and they became more healthier. The black
    plague still exist today.
