Magna Carta
13
Magna Carta causes changes in England
14
Magna Carta
  • The magna Carta was a written document by English
nobles and sighed by King John listing rights the
    king could not ignore,
  • A group of English nobles demanded this
    agreement.

15
Effects of the Magna Carta
  • The Magna Carta required the king to honor
certain rights- so he could not just do anything
    he wanted.
  • Habeas- people did not have to be thrown in jail
    without a reason.
  • They had to be charged with a crime and convicted
at a jury trial before they could be sent to
prison. so they have a reason to be in jail.
  • It required everyone- even the king to obey the
laws. So everything was equal among the people
and the rights they were given.

16
Changes after the Magna Carta
  • The Magna Carta inspired the English to find
more way to limit the kings power.
  • Parliament is the body of law-making that governs
    England today
  • To ensure that everyone was treated farily.

conflict between England and France during the
    1300s and 1400s

  • Since the French king dies with no heirs,.. Two
    men claimed his throne.
  • The English take the lead by wining almost all
    the battles.
  • A girl of the name Joan Arc, rallied the French
    troops.

20
Results of the war

    king needed Parliament's power approval

21
Black Death
22
Where it came from
  • It originally came from central and eastern Asia.
  • Traders unknowingly brought rats carrying disease
    to the Mediterranean ports.
  • It was called the Black death
  • The old manor system, all-ready weakened by the
growth of the cities, collapsed and caused the
death of perhaps 25 million people. Instead of
working for the rich, peasants now had other job
    opportunities. Plague survivors found there
skills in demand and charged more for there
    labor.
  • People started too be clean, washing hands, the
streets, they buried people, and made shure the
rats were not on the ship.
