    Franciscan order.

11
Magna carta causes changes in England
  • Magna Carta- a document written by English nobles
and signed by King John listing rights that the
    king could not ignore.
  • Who demanded this agreement- in 1215 a group of
English nobles decided to force the king to
    respect their rights.

12
Effects of magna carta
  • What were the effects of m/c- the magna carta
faced with war and financial troubles.
  • List three of the demands and why they are
important- to respect their rights because
someone might have a pretty good idea during
harsh times. No one could be held in jail without
reason because they did nothing wrong so why pay
the price. The king had to follow the laws also
because it was not fair if he didnt.

13
Changes after the Magna Carta
  • What did M/C inspire the nobles to do- To develop
    a new system called parliament.
  • Parliament- was the lawmaking body that governs
    England.
  • How did the king limit M/C- the king turned to a
council of nobles for advice and money.

14
Student Magna Carta
  • 1. That the teachers are not allowed to assign
homework, all work must be completed at school.
  • 2. That we must have at least one bathroom break
    a day.
  • 3. the teachers are not allowed to give
individual work to the students, all teamwork or
    group work.

15
The 100 years war
16
The course of the war
  • French King dies with no heirs- the king died but
in the end the kings power grew after the war.
  • Two men claim the throne- the war started when
the English king tried to take control of Frances
    throne.
  • English take the lead- England invaded France and
    won many key battles.
  • Joan of Arc-a teenage peasant girl who rallied
the French troops and turned the tide of the
    hundred years war.

17
Results or the war
  • Changes in England- the war helped increase the
    power of the parliament.
  • Changes in France- the kings power was getting
    larger after the war.
  • Democracy in France will have to wait- the war
gained more power to the king means that the king
will have power but the people wont.

18
Black death
  • Where it came from- it came from central an
    eastern Asia.
  • How it spread- the traders unknowingly brought
rats caring the disease to Mediterranean port.
  • What disease was it- the plague.
  • Effect on Manor life and feudalism/ how many
died- the old manor system already weakened by
the growth of cities and perhaps 25 million
    people were killed.
  • What happened to it- it is still here to this
    very day.
