Cameroon

• 1884 - Cameroon becomes a German protectorate
• 1885 - Baron von Soden becomes the governor of
  Cameroon
  
• 1886 - New borders are established for the entire

• 1887 - Von Puttkamer becomes the second governor.
  He constructs railways, roads, schools, and
  hospitals.
  
• 1916 - World War I breaks out, France and Britain
  forces Germany away

Samoa

• 1722 - European explorers first sight the Somoan
  Islands
  
• 1799 - The first European explorers sets foot on
  Samoa
  
• 1839 - Lt. Wikes of the U.S. Navy lands on
  Tutuila
  
• 1800-1850 - Missionaries were established on the
  islands. The majority of the Samoans become
  Christian
  
• 1850 - Germans start plantations on Upolu
• 1889 - Treaty of Berlin signed, which guaranteed
  that Samoa retain indepencence, under its own
  king. The king would be advised by American,
  British, and German consuls.
• 1899 - The Tripartite Treaty is signed. Samoan
  Islands are divided between Germany and the U.S.
  
• 1900 - Germany officially establishes Samoa as a
  colony, and its flag is raised in Apia
  
• 1914 - At the outbreak of World War 1, New
  Zealand confiscates land from Germany, including
  Samoa
