C4 Mission

• Director C4/Marine Corps CIO is responsible for
  planning, directing, coordinating, and overseeing
  C4 and IT capabilities that support the
  warfighting functions. The Department influences
  the combat development process by establishing
  policy and standards for developing the
  enterprise architecture. The intent is to
  achieve Joint and combined interoperability.

  national and allied systems that impact the USMC
  C4 systems architecture

• Establishes information technology (IT) standards
• Develop the Marine Corps strategic vision for
  information and knowledge management capabilities
• Develop a capital IT investment strategy that
  supports Operational Forces and Supporting
  Establishment

  development, establishment, and review of
  policies and procedures for the interface,
  interoperability, and compatibility of automated
  information and command and control systems.
• Responsibilities generally govern supporting and

• Chief Technology Advisor
• Principal advisor to the Marine Corps on all IT,
  communications and network technology
  enhancements
• Principal advisor on the Global Information Grid
  (GIG) Bandwidth Expansion (BE), joint networking
  architectures and their effects on USMC overall
  architecture, our Operational architecture (OA),
  Systems Architecture (SA) and Technical
  Architecture (TA) in close coordination with
  Assistant Secretary of Defense (ASD) Networks
  Information Integration (NII), J6, other
  Services, MCCDC, MCSC and the Operating Forces
• Coordinate closely with DARPA, ONR, NRL, CERDEC,
  and the commercial sector on potential
  "leap-ahead" solutions for significant
  improvements to our IT, communications and
  networks
