  • What Is a Credible Source?
  • A source that is reliable due to its
    authoritative authorship, professional
    endorsement, or unbiased nature is considered
    credible. Keep in mind that it is possible and
    even desirable to use a biased source just be
    sure to acknowledge its biased nature.

  • Why Use Credible Sources?
  • To make a convincing argument or to effectively
    illustrate your point, it is important to use
    believable sources. It also creates a sense of
    sincerity and plausibility of ideas for your
    reader.

Primary vs- Secondary
  • What is Primary Research?
  • Primary research is information that you
    personally gather about your topic.
  • What is Secondary Research?
  • Secondary research is information that you glean
    from someone elses research. Most undergraduate
    students rely on secondary research.

  • Familiarize Yourself with Your Campus Library.
  • Most campus libraries will have both on-campus
    and on-line services. Take advantage of both in
    order to ensure variety and balance in your
    research.

  • Find an interview of an expert that was conducted
    by another person
  •  Useful when you need an authority on a topic,
    either an expert or someone affected by your
    topic
  • When conducting an interview, determine your
    purpose for the interview and prepare questions
    that will help meet your goal

  • For a small group, you may conduct your own

  • Determine the purpose and prepare objective

    elaborate on their opinion, consider using a
    subjective, open-ended question or two
