  • Samuel Ian Holland
  • Samuel Holland was born in 1717 in Nijmegen,
    Netherlands.

  • He served in the Dutch Artillery until 1774, then
    he went to England to join the British Army.
  • In 1764 Samuel Holland was named Surveyor-General
    of Quebec and all parts of North America north of
    the Potomac River.

Samuels Land
  • On the land given to him by the British in
    recognition for services rendered, Samuel built
    a house.
  • In 1740, he moved in and lived there all his
    life.
  • When he died in 1801, he gave the land to the
    City of Quebec.

  • The city was allowed to develop this area as long
    as the name of Holland was indicated.
  • Park Samuel Holland.
  • Stuart Street became Holland Avenue.
  • Our school name, Holland School.

The Present
  • Holland School was built in 1960
  • This is what the front of our school looks like
    in the year 2000.
  • We now belong to the Central Quebec School Board.

  • This is the great back yard we get to play in
    during recess.
  • We have a soccer field, basketball court, long
    jump pit, monkey bars and more.

  • We even have this cool park with climbers, slide,
    tire swings and sliding poles.
  • This is where we have our obstacle race during
    our Track and Field day.
