Title: Diapositiva 1
1dear colleague please find BELOW the letter
from Jim for the meeting of Jan 18th. For your
convenience I attach a memo sent us by Jim end of
November and ,belowbelow, the letter from Jim of
Dec. 5th. I can tell you what was asked to
Tracker in the management board --identify
people from sites ready to spend long periods of
time at CERN --set up a coordination structure
at CERN --fall back plans in case of failures
On my question if the request of personnel and
resources for Tracker and ECAL could result in a
reduced help to Muon ,the answer was that the
Muon ( and Magnet) are the first priorities for
CMS. This mail is sent to Ali and RPC
colleagues and to all the DT coordinators. For
their convenience I attach our Barrel Management
Table. I invite the DT ,Ali and RPC,
coordinators to read carefully the letter of Jim
,to start to collect and make available to all
of us the relevant information, and to draft
the relevant reports and schedules BEFORE
XMAS. This in order to have the time to digest
them and finalize our status in the week of Jan
10. I am asking all of them to do this work
because,as Jim announces, the list of subjects
will be completed later on (in any case before
Jan 7, he says). In my view the meeting should
be attended by the major coordinators
(FG,AB,FN,HR,MC,CW) and, possibly, by the
responsibles of the collaborating Institutes
(MDV,MC,TH,AS and PLZ) and by some delegate for
RPC and Alignment. Because I can easily imagine
that some of us will have different view on
several subjects I propose to have a phone
conference in the second half of the week of Jan
10 and that the persons attending the meeting
of Tuesday 18 meet together on Monday 17th in
the afternoon or on Tuesday morning depending on
the final schedule of the meeting with Jim et al.
I apologize to whom will have this mail twice.
Comments and suggestions are wellcome, I wish
you a good time and hope to read you soon.
reagards F.

From Tejinder Virdee lttejinder.virdee_at_cern.c
hgt Dear Folks, Below is the first guidance for
the meeting on 18th January at CERN. The aim of
the meeting is to go thoroughly through the
schedule of the barrel muon DTRPC system, with
resource loading as much as possible, and to see
what is needed to hold onto the installation
dates for the surface phase given in v34.0 (note
v34.1 is not much different for the surface
phase). For this we need to understand the
timelines, broken in fortnightly intervals if
possible, for Chamber production at all the
sites (DTs and RPCs) HVB production Minicrate
production at all the sites HVB replacement at
ISR Dressing and Alignment of DTs at the ISR
RPC staging and testing at ISR Installation and
Commissioning at Point 5. And other major
operations not on this list Parts flow and
creation of sufficient buffers are critical for
the success. The situation with parts flow
(using the same fortnightly scale) should be
shown and tracked. Furthermore teams should be
identified for these operations and the
deployment of people for tasks occurring in
parallel be clearly identified and the
priorities clearly addressed/stated. Areas
where help is needed should be identified in
terms of financial, technical or human
resources. It would be good to have the
relevant people present at CERN. Some relevant
people from the RPC (barrel) should also be
present. Carlo Wilmott should also be present.
3The others on the cc list have not seen the
contents of this message and may wish to
add/modify what I have written. This should be
done by the 7th Jan at the latest. Wish you all
a happy and restful break. Cheers Jim
The 5th of Dec Jim wrote Hi Fabrizio, As
mentioned to you last week we should have the
first meeting of the DT and CMS Managements on
the Monday 17th Jan. We should aim at almost a
whole day meeting (perhaps starting mid-morning
if people will be flying in). We shall be
looking closely at the schedule and the
resources. I will give you more targeted info
later. Cheers Jim

19BMU Installation (YB1)
- Issues
- Chimney chambers 1 MB3, 2MB4/4 still in
production. Priority to MB3 should be ready not
later than mid February. MB4/4 can be installed
with MB4To. - MB4To schedule for 6 chambers (YB2) at ISR
needed to setup alignment period (to be defined
with Gyorgy). - Minicrate production check effective rate by
end of January. If needed divert YB2 MC for
YB1 installation. Only chambers with MC will be
installed. - Install MB1 rails, refurbish screw holes for
cradle support posts, drill new hole(s), attach
railings, support plates.
Optimal installation sequence 5 MB1,5 MB3, 5
MB2 Top then Bottom This minimizes the movement
of the cradle supports
20YB2 Completion and YB1 Installation
- Optimized Scenario
- Complete ancillary work in YB2 (z-stops holes,
supports) - Install MC in YB2,
- Connectorise MC LV and PADC to LV support plate,
HV Jbxs - Displace YB2 1m, begin commissioning
- Mount MB1 supports on YB1 and refurbish screw
holes - Displace YB2 and EndCaps
- Install YB1 including MB4To (back to
Installation Review scenario) - Commission YB1(gt end of June), Cable Test YB2
S10 - Install YB0,
- move back YB2, install MB4To commissioning ..
28/02/05
28/03/05
21Summary
- Installation in YB1 requires moving YB2 and
EndCaps to clear access for tooling, transport
frame storage and staging area.Conflicts are
possible with YB2 commissioning and EMU, EH
work. - Changing installation wheel is going to be time
consuming. We must produce a coherent scenario
for commissioning, installation and cabling of
several wheels - This requires a realistic schedule for MB4To
deliveries - Completion of ancillary work on the wheels is
becoming critical also for YB-1 and YB-2 (MB1
supports..) - 87 chambers should be installed in SX5 after the
magnet test. These chambers should be ready to
install (apart for coupling to RPC) by then.
