communities and online, is a vital channel for
the the normal people to do amazing tasks and,
this way we will achieve the abundance of human
solidarity needed for our common goals to be
achieved."

Nowadays volunteer activities make up for
according to statistics the 7th world economy
in terms of GDP. In various developed countries,
they contribute to more than 5 of the GDP in
goods and services, especially social services.
In countries like Sweden, Holland, Israel,
Canada, the United States, among others, a huge
network of organizations, based on voluteer work,
perform a very wide range of services for the

  • Background
  • 1.1 INTRODUCTION
  • We are offering some definitions to unify
    concepts
  • VOLUNTEERING
  • Not easily clasifiable conglomerate of
situations where the human beings can show, in
different ways, their love for human kind, their
altruism, their conscience, their political and
social responsability and their goal to find
their position in society. There isnt any ideal
volunteering with common characteristics , but
various situations of volunteering, each of them
related with the context in which they happen, as
well as the purposes and aims of their actions..

RETHINKING OF THE CIVIL SOCIETY IT IS THE
RELATIONSHIP IT IS NOT A SPECIFIC BETWEEN
SECTORS SECTOR GOVERNMENTAL
ECONOMIC

SOLIDARY CIVIL SOCIETY would be
determined by the conexistence and cooperation
between the sectors and the group work to
promote thier capacity of mutual respect and
improvement of the quality of life. (Lester
Salamon )

10
According to Lester Salamon SOCIETY
Strengthens through the alliances between the
State, private sector, and solidary sector.
This is the way to CREATE COMMON SOLUTIONS
BETWEEN THE SECTORS AND BECOME PARTNERS WITHOUT
AFFECTING THEIR AUTHONOMY.
11
GLOBALIZATION It is a process that derives
from the growing communication and
interdependency between the various countries of
the world that unifies the markets, socities and
cultures through a series of social, economical
and political changes giving them a global stamp.
SOLIDARITY It is the ability to perceive
that traditional differences - race, tribe,
religion- lack the importance when compared to
the pain and humiliation caused by a member of
the same group. ( Richard Rorty )
12
THE SOLIDARITY GIVES THE

2. Workshop. IAVE WE DREAM OF - 2018 LETS
IMAGINE WHAT FUTURE MAY LOOK LIKE!!! Prospective
is the science that studies the future in order
to understand and influence it. Although it is,
paradoxically, a science without an object that
moves between the necessity to predict and the
desire to invent a better future. Future cannot
be precisely predicted, but we can imagine what
the future may look like! According to JORDY
SERRA, the NGOs focus on what we can do to make a
better future or at least, so that it does not
get worse! The focus is on action, commitment
with the future generations. Prospective
planning. The question, now, is what is the
desired future for the IAVE IN 2018_

20

First step How do you picture IAVE in
2018? Write on the card the individual dream.
