UDL
  • Universal Design for Learning

2
What is UDL?
  • UDL is a provides a blueprint for creating
    flexible goals, methods, materials, and
    assessments that accommodate learner differences.
  • UDL is a broad range of approaches to teaching
and learning. It is a different approach for
    every learner.
  • UDL is designed for a wide variety of users,
    including those with disabilities.
  • UDL uses technology to make education more
comprehensive and effectual for all users.

The 3 Principles of UDL
  • Principle 1 recognition
  • To support recognition learning, provide
    multiple, flexible methods of presentation
  • Principle 2 strategic
  • To support strategic learning, provide multiple,
    flexible methods of expression and
    apprenticeship.
  • Principle 3 affective
  • To support affective learning, provide multiple,
    flexible options for engagement.

How can the technologies we have learned this
semester be leveraged to address the recognition,
strategic and affective domains of learning?
  • Many of the technologies that we have learned
this semester have been very pliable, they can be
molded to fit the needs of many children with
disabilities, wheter the children are creating
the projects, or simply benefiting from them.
  • They are also engaging ways of presenting
    information.
  • The methods we have learned have also been
varied, giving a wide range of options for both
the instructor, as well as a variety of children.

One Activity
  • A digital story is a great way to allow ANY
student to express themselves. The verbal
expression that is allowable in a digital story
can be a universally enjoyable skill. It does
not require writing and can allow the student to
express ideas without a need for writing skills.
However, a student that cannot express themselves
verbally can do so with interpretive photos, or
    in written from
