  racial prejudice and discrimination.

  the ACLU American Civil Liberties Union was
  organized in , the issue of civil rights was not
  at the forefront for most people or Government
  leaders.The Japanese American Citizens League

  rights of people of Japanese descent. It was an
  American organization started by the younger
  generation who were the children of Japanese
  immigrants. They had been born in the United
  States and were American citizens.
