Trouble Shooting
  • Do a line check first go through everything and
if something isnt working make note of it and
come back to it, this way you have an idea of how
    long you have to trouble
  • keep channels that arent working muted.

No input to Channel Strip
  • Think Linear
  • Start at one end or the other of the signal path
    never in the middle.
  • Start at the source and work your way back toward
the console or from the console back to the
    source
  • Most common problem areas are XLR Lines, snake
channels sometimes microphones and input channels
    on the console
  • Check to make sure phantom power is on if
    required
  • Is something inserted on that channel? i.e. Gate?
If so, unplug or disengage it from the channel.

No input to Channel Strip
  • Check Patch Starting at one end (be careful about
numbers 6 and 9 when patching)
  • By Pass sub snakes and go directly into main
    snake
  • Try a different channel into the snake, one that
has already been tested and you know works
  • Directly into console (If you think it might be
    the microphone)
  • Try a different XLR cable

4
No input to Channel Strip
  • Check ¼ patch cables from instruments
  • Could also be the output jack from the instrument
  • Bad DI? Unplug it and check the line with a
    microphone

5
No Output to Speakers
  • Panic!! Yell at people!! Start freaking out!!!
  • Be Calm
