  would be free making the North more powerful.

• Kansas-Nebraska Act Act which allowed
  inhabitants to use Popular Sovereignty to decide
  if the States would be slave or free.

• Popular Sovereignty Letting the people vote on
  whether slavery would be allowed there.

  issue.

  down viciously with a cane by Preston Brooks of
  South Carolina.

• Dred Scott is a slave that had once lived in
  free-territories.
• Due to this Scott tells his owner he is free and
  takes it to the Supreme Court.

  federal arsenal at Harpers Ferry, Virginia. He
  had a dream of arming slaves and creating an
  uprising.
• Raid is stopped by federal troops under Robert E.
  Lee
