1FIRST INTERNATIONAL WE HERAEUS SUMMER SCHOOL
Mesoscopic Physics between Photonic and
Electronic Systems
Wittenberg (Germany), 17. - 27. July 2000
Mesoscopics - the physics between large and small
size scales - has turned out to be at the
junction between two largely independent
disciplines modern optics and electronic
transport. The lectures in this summer school
will be on experiment and theory at the interface
between the traditional fields of quantum optics,
laser physics, and electronic transport.
Invited speakers include C. Gmachl (USA) F.
Haake (D) D. Khmelnitskii (GB) V. Kravtsov
(Italy) F. Laeri (D) M. Raikh (USA) A. Shimizu
(Japan) H. Stöckmann (D) A. D. Stone (USA) A.
Wixforth (D) H. Woerdmann (NL)
The registration fee is DM 200. Accomodation
(single and double rooms) and meals at the
Leucorea Foundation are free for an international
audience of 50 advanced students and young
researchers. Informal applications, together with
one letter of reference or one reprint and a
short CV (email address), should be sent by
APRIL 30 to Dr. T. Brandes, Universität Hamburg,
1. Institut für Theoretische Physik,
Jungiusstrasse 9, 20355 Hamburg, Germany. Limited
travel support is available for students from
abroad. The workshop homepage is
