Introduction what Casattenta is?
Its an hardware/software integrated system for
domotic applications
Continuous monitoring of the house and its
inhabitants (physiological parameters, behavior)
Suitable for elder or impaired person that live
alone
Its based on wireless sensor network and on the
discipline of Ambient Intelligence
Its based on non-invasive technology thanks to
wireless communication (no excavating, no wiring)
Easy to install the modules have to be inserted
in the wall sockets
Easy to use intuitive graphical interface
Its more in general a system for indoor
monitoring therefore suitable for many other
scenarios (hospital, public infrastructures,
industrial building monitoring etc)

The Networks Structure
The wireless sensor network in Casattenta can be
distinguished in
Mobile Sensor Network Worn by users
Fixed Sensor Network Embedded in the environment
Enables all the monitoring functions of an
advanced domotic system (accesses control, gas
escapes, lit up lights, strange noises, opened
windows, temperature, etc.). The system is easy
expandable, re-configurable and programmable to
cover necessities that can emerge after its
installation.
Enables inhabitants localization,
physiological parameters monitoring and users
activity recognition. It is worn unobtrusively in
the pocket, on the belt, round ones neck. This
network enables fall monitoring, control of the
user breathe, if she/he is motionless, etc.
Integration between these two parts enables data
fusion and extraction of higher abstraction
information e.g. to identify situation requiring
external intervention a person falls and remains
motionless (source the accelerometers worn by
user), she/he falls in the bathroom (source the
localization engine), she/he is crying
or shouting (source environmental microphone),
etc help is required.
