• Reduce the cost per bit by improving the
  spectrum efficiency (24 times of Rel6)
• Improved service provisioning by
• Reducing the set up and round trip delay
• Supporting higher peak data rates (DL gt 100
  Mbps, UL gt 50 Mbps)
• Enhancing the data rate for MBMS (1 3 Mbps)
• Flexible use of existing and new frequency bands
  by
• Wider bandwidth than 5 MHz, typically, up to 20
  MHz or more
• Allowing variable duplex technology within bands
  and between bands
• Non-contiguous spectrum allocations to one UE
  should not be precluded
• Architecture and mobility enhancements by
• Separating each entities in UTRAN for an open
  architecture (Multi vendor)
• Supporting multi-RAT with resources controlled
  from the network
