ROBINSON CRUSOE
A TALKING BOOK....
....IN RHYME.
2
I was born in York in 1632 And soon new what I
wanted to do My fathers hopes for me seemed
dull So I set sail from the port of Hull.

3
A few days later in a terrible storm My ship was
wrecked, her sails all torn.
4
I was thrown up onto the shore. My dreams of
seeing the world no more.
5
I made a raft from planks of wood to take from
aboard all that was good. Firearms, gunpowder,
tools and rice Books, pens, paper and other
things nice.
6
My home was a tent outside a cave And because I
didnt feel so brave I cut down trees and built a
fence Two metres high- a good defence.
7
I made a table, lamp and chair Pots, cups and
even clothes to wear. I had a little dog to
walk, A parrot I could teach to talk.
8

A goat that gave me milk and cheese so maybe I
should just be pleased. But this island was a
lonely place for me surrounded as it was by only
sea. .
9
But one day while dreaming of my homeland I saw a
footprint in the sand. Then bones and blood-a
fire alight Wild cannibals- a fearful sight.
10
Dancing cannibals, ready to eat Their meal of
roasted human meat. Cooked on the fire , a fellow
man By God, Ill save him if I can.
11
The victim escaped and began to run, swam across
the stream, I fired my gun. My friend and servant
he became And man Friday was his name.
12
One day my servant woke me in the morning Oh
master, master, hear my warning! This ships flag
is red, white and blue, do Englishmen eat their
captives too?
We saved the captain and his few faithful
men, took back their ship and set sail
again. Back to Europe, no longer castaways Now I
can end in peace my days.
