2008-2009 CE FUNDS
  • Funds were divided
  • 60 for secondary
  • 40 for postsecondary

STATEWIDE CE FUNDS
  • Tied by law to the WPU
  • Will increase/decrease with the WPU
  • Projected 15 cut in WPU for 2009-10
  • All secondary and postsecondary concurrent
    funding is affected

SECONDARY FUNDING 2008-2009
  • Disbursed to school districts on a monthly basis
  • 1/12 has been distributed each month to districts
    beginning July 1, 2008
  • Until the 2007-2008 numbers are verified,
    disbursements are based on 2006-2007 student data
  • Districts must verify 2007-2008 student data with
    USOE in near future
  • Districts will be notified by USOE regarding
    2008-2009 funding
  • Good news district will receive additional
    funding
  • Bad news district will have to give back funds

BUDGET CRISIS QUESTIONS
  • 2008-2009 district budget cuts
  • Concurrent funding is a restricted line item
  • Concurrent funds may be used for other programs
    (all strings are off)
  • 2009-2010 district budget cuts
  • Concurrent money will be restricted
  • Cannot be used for other district programs
  • Projected cut to the WPU of up to 15 in 2009-10

POSTSECONDARY FUNDING
  • Still at the Commissioners Office, not disbursed
    yet
  • We hope to receive funds after the legislature
    decides on this years budget cuts
  • This is not the time to dispute distributing
    funds based on delivery method

Protect Underserved Students
  • How are districts/colleges currently working
    together to ensure concurrent enrollment
    opportunities for all qualified students?

United Voice
  • We must be unified
  • not appear to be fighting over funding
  • We want to keep Concurrent Enrollment funding as
    it is
  • Keep state funding for Concurrent Enrollment
  • Do not charge students tuition per credit hour
  • Dont ask parents to contact legislators at this
    time

Message for Local Legislators
  • Concurrent Enrollment saves taxpayer dollars
  • Taxes pay cost of instruction once, students get
    college and high school credit
  • Makes high school senior year productive,
    rigorous and relevant
  • 19,000,000 savings to taxpayers
  • UACEP supports the Concurrent Enrollment
    Postsecondary General Education Pathway
  • UACEP supports Concurrent Enrollment in CTE
    courses
