MICROENCAPSULATION
Microencapsulation is the process whereby small
(macro, micro and nano size), discrete, solid
particles liquid droplets are surrounded or
enclosed by an intact shell. The aim of the
Symposium is to review, update and discuss all
the aspects of the science and technology of
microencapsulated particulate systems as they are
applied to medical, pharmaceutical, veterinary,
food, cosmetic and consumer products. The
symposium will focus on microencapsulation
techniques and applications such as Spray

encapsulation. The Symposium will present an
opportunity to show and share research
achievements, to learn of innovations and novel
developments in the field and to interact with
distinguished world leaders and young innovators.

Scientific Contributions
Contributed papers will be presented in form of
posters or oral lectures selected by the
International Advisory Board. Scientists are
invited to submit contributions on all subjects
related to microencapsulation. The proposals must
reach the Scientific Secretariat not later than
March 31st, 2005, according to the instructions
reported in the Symposium webpage

prize ( 500) and two additional prizes ( 250
each) for three posters presented by student
participants selected by an award committee. Five
student travel grants ( 500 each) will be
available to contributors who have had papers
accepted upon application on a competitive
basis.

Consortium TEFARCO Innova
The Interuniversity Consortium on Innovative
Pharmaceutical Technologies is a collaborative
effort among ten Italian Universities. The main
aims are to coordinate basic applied research in
the field of pharmaceutical technologies, to
provide support in design, production and
application of new drug delivery systems, to
organize programs for scientific education and to
propose initiatives for professional training in
technological areas of drugs and cosmetics. lt
