All-0ptical Switch at 1550 nm for Time-driven
Switching (TDS)
The architecture of a 2x2 Switch is shown on the
left. High gain SOA operating at 1550 nm are
used, enabling metro applications. All operating
parameters can be monitored remotely.

• Each SOA is controlled by a dedicated
  microprocessor. Parameters such as
• operating current,
• temperature and
• system integrity
• are continuously transmitted. SOA temperature
  is actively regulated.

Input and output optical power is continuously
measured by four dedicated photodiodes and
microprocessor to monitor the quality of the link
and the overall performances of the all-optical
switch.
