Title: MORE ABOUT POTENTIAL COURSES
1MORE ABOUT POTENTIAL COURSES
Dr. Higgins book, Financial Whirlpools, is an
ideal supplement for Economics and Finance
courses that want to expand current thoughts
about the 2008-2009 financial crisis it can also
be used in courses that develop integrative and
critical systems thinking skills and in those
that address economic, social, and environmental
sustainability. As an example, Dr. Higgins has
created a course entitled Finding the Forest
Applying Systems Thinking to Complex
Organizational, Economic, and Sustainability
Issues, which she teaches at the Drucker School
of Management, Claremont Graduate University.
Using systems thinking, this course familiarizes
students with major issues that face
organizations, national economies, and our
planet it helps them view these issues through a
more powerful lens. (see CGU Course Finding the
Forest on this site.) Sample lectures,
animated PowerPoint slides for many diagrams and
concepts from the Financial Whirlpools book, and
exercises for this course appear in a separate
website that can be accessed by instructors.
These aids will facilitate and augment lectures
for Economics and Finance courses and for
Sustainability and Systems Thinking courses that
use the book.
