Causes of the Holocaust

• 1. Other countries- Reactions to Hitler and lack
  of action to control situation
• 2. Economy of Germany- In shambles due to World
  War 1 and restricted trade

Concentration Camps

• Auschwitz
• Camp for Jews, Gypsies, Soviet prisoners of war,
  and many other nationalities
• Site of greatest mass murder in history

Camps cont.

• Belzec-
• Camp where more then 600,000 people were
  killed, most from Southern Poland
• Chelmno- Gassing operations lasted from 1941-43
• Dismantled after most of the incoming prisoners
  had already been killed

Outcomes of the Holocaust

• More then 6 million people died as a result of
  the Holocaust
• 140,000 freed Jews later came to America
