Emphasis is on the preparation of minority
nurses. The program provides knowledge derived

LICENSED RNs LPNs
- are accepted as transfer students.
- A maximum number of transferable credits is
- 80 semester hours from a four-year

10Learning Assistance Laboratory
The Learning Assistance Center (LAC) in the
School of Nursing has been in operation since
1978. Its major purpose is to
- Support the Nursing Program
- Enhance the Learning Process
The LAC is also equipped with an IV simulator and
a homodynamic monitor that allows students
hands-on critical care experiences prior to "real
life" clinical experiences.
A RN lab coordinator is available to assist
students in mastering these skills.

Our 35,000 Digitally-enhanced Mannequin
Blood Pressure
Pulsating
Breathing
- programmed to simulate a range of illnesses and
medical emergencies, including cardiac arrest.
Students are told of Sim-Man's "symptoms" and
must perform the appropriate assessments and
treatments. Sim-Man's condition improves or
deteriorates depending on the student's
intervention. "The beauty of Sim-Man is it allows
students to be immersed in real-time experiences,
Students learn what it's like to have to make
decisions quickly in an environment where it is
safe to make mistakes.

- The active learning environment of the classroom
can expand into the students' personal world.
This allows the student to more fully review
class material at his or her own pace.
- Ultimately, this will help our students gain a
better understanding of the science of nursing
