• Two sections Civil Rights Pilgrimage and Habitat
  for Humanity work project
• Three week intensive fieldwork following a
  semester long course (SW/SJP/SOC)
• Students completed a research paper (3 credits)
  or integrated journals (1 credit)

• Pilgrimage is not only an outward journey but
  the experience of being a stranger, and the
  awareness that one is a guest and migrant.

Deepening Faith Committed to Justice in the
Context of Race and Class

• The religious roots of modern Civil Rights

• Daily celebration of Mass/lectionary readings

• Interdenominational work and worship

• Connecting to those working for justice deeply
  rooted in and motivated by their faith tradition

• Exploring Catholic tradition different from our
  own

Departure

• Departure reveals the decision of pilgrims to go
  forward up to the destination and achieve the
  spiritual objectives of their baptismal vocation

Walking Inward, Walking Outward

• Walking leads them to solidarity with their
  brothers and sisters and to the necessary
  preparation for the meeting with the Lord.

Visiting

• The visit invites them to listen to the Word of
  God and to sacramental celebration.

Return

• The return, in the end, reminds them of their
  mission in the world, as witnesses of salvation
  and builders of peace.
