Entrepreneurship Education Curriculum Writing Team
8Much thinking went into deciding what needed to
be in the curriculum.
9Time was spent conferring with committee members.
10Responsibilities were divided.
11More TEAMWORK!
12Teams shared their findings with one another and
worked together to do what was best for the
students.
13Like all good educators, we spread out on the
floor.

15And then as a large group, we retyped our plans.
16And we proof read each others work!
17And retyped, and retyped, and retyped, and
retyped, and retyped, and retyped!
18Then came back together as a group!
19The team went back home after our second session
to edit and revise and edit and revise and edit
and revise. . . And will return in July to review
their rough DRAFT !

24But we needed even more. . . We wanted out curric
ulum to be user friendly across ALL disciplines
of the curriculum so we invited four teachers to
add their thoughts to our work. We invited. . .
an Agriculture Science teacher
a Health Occupations teacher
a Family and Consumer Science teacher and
a Technology Education teacher
25Each if these four teachers wrote four lesson
plans within their subject matter based on the
entrepreneur curriculum our original team had
written. And you might ask. . .
26In Louisiana, we wanted those students who
graduated from a two year curriculum, whether it
was from a technical college, a community
college, or a university, to have enough
knowledge and flexibility to open their own
business if they so chose. In the event they
decided not to go work for the Wal-Mart beauty
salon downtown, the student would have enough
skills to open his/her own beauty spa.

312007 Louisiana Super Summer Institute
- Our first group of Louisiana teachers were
trained
- Each lesson was discussed with participants
- As lessons were reviewed, activities were
examined some of which included. . .
32- Matching Entrepreneur Game
- This is an activity to get your children up and
moving. The game can be designed around
nationally known entrepreneurs or its focus can
be on local entrepreneurs.
At the age of twenty-two I went from bank to bank
trying to convince them that selling a limited
number of items on a menu was a good ideas.
Convincing them was a struggle until after my
first year when my business netted 1.7 million
selling chicken, coleslaw, fries, and Texas
toast.

36Getting Down to Business The Plan
What would YOU want to know? A friend tells you h
e/she is going to start a business and he/she
wants you to invest 5000 in that business.
What are some of the questions you would ask
him/her about this venture?
37The Summer of 2007
We discovered a few flaws in our curriculum.
A few activities had been omitted from the cur
riculum Some of the lessons needed to be rearra
nged in the curriculum Chapters needed to be re
structured for easier flow in the curriculum
Input from the teachers in the training was
valuable
38So we edited AGAIN!
39Where are we now. . .
- Ready to pilot Entre LA in Louisiana during the
Spring 08 Semester
- Ready to present Entre LA to the Louisiana
Board of Elementary and Secondary Education for
approval and ultimate adoption
- Prepared to train a new group of teachers in the
Summer of 2008
40And, by the way, did we mention that we have
correlated each lesson with the English Language
Arts, Math, Science, and Social Studies for
grades 9, 10, 11, and 12. In Louisiana, we call
that lagniappe. . .just a little extra.
41So you see. . .
Louisiana has plenty to be excited about!
42And we are delighted to share our successes with
you!
