• Figure e-1. Immunofuorescence analysis of muscle
  sections from control donor (a, c, e) and in the
  index case (b, d, f) with antibodies for laminin
  ?1 (a, b), fibronectin (c, d) and collagen IV (e,
  f). In control biopsy, laminin ?1, collagen IV
  and fibronectin are detected in the basement
  membrane of muscle fibers and endomysial
  capillary vessels. In the patient, laminin ?1 (b)
  appears severely decreased in the basement
  membrane of muscle fibers, while it is preserved
  at the myotendineous junctions (arrows) and
  capillary vessels (arrowheads). Fibronectin is
  apparently increased around the capillary wall
  of the patient (d). On the other hand, collagen
  IV (f) shows a normal pattern both in muscle
  fibers and vessels. Bar, 40 ?m.
