Habitat
  • Hermit crabs are born in the Euphotic zone of the
ocean. They spend 6-8 months there.
  • They are mostly populated in Delaware Bay.

5
Description
  • Hermit crabs have tough, hard shells that
protects their soft, squashy bodies ( which make
a nice treat for hungry fish).
  • They can be a purple-ish black to a bright red.

6
Food and prey
  • Hermit crabs eat small creatures such as, worms
    and tiny shell fish.
  • They also feed off of the remains of dead animals.

7
Life Cycle
  • Hermit crabs are born in small egg cases. Once
they are born they must spend 6-8 months in the
ocean. After a short period of time they set out
and adapt to life on land.
  • When they reach land they must find a fitted
shell quickly. As they grow theyll change their
shells to one that fits the size theyve grown.

8
Interesting facts
  • Before hermit crabs molt they must drink a lot of
    water.
  • Hermit crabs eat and drink by scooping it up with
    their claws.
  • Only the upper half of a hermit crab is covered
by a shell while the other moves free.

9
Conclusion
  • I had fun doing research on hermit crabs and
think theyre pretty cool. Maybe you think that
    to.
