Afghanistan War A Forgotten War
  • Most people now have forgotten all about the
Afghanistan war because everybody is focused on
    the Iraq war.
  • Some people dont even know that there was ever a
war between the U.S. and Afghanistan.

Afghanistan war A forgotten war?
  • The Afghanistan war started because of the
terrorist attacks of September 11 of the year
    2001.
  • They wanted to seek the Taliban and find the
    al-Queda leader, Osama Bin Laden.

Afghanistan war A forgotten war?
  • The original purpose of the Afghanistan war was
to seek Osama Bin Laden. But now the Afghanistan
war is forgotten and all the news is for the
    Iraq war.
  • However, some people think that Bush used the
terrorist attacks of 9/11 as an excuse to go to
Iraq to get their oil. Another opinion of the
American citizens is that the CIA was also
involved in the plan to take Iraqs oil.

When did this war start?
2001-present
  • The Afghanistan war started on October of the
year 2001 and it is still going on today. The
    September 11 , 2001 (9/11) attacks on the United
States marked the beginning of its War on
Terrorism campaign. The original purpose of the
invasion was to destroy al-Queda and deny them
freedom of movement within Afghanistan. They also
wanted to remove the Taliban regime which had
provided support and haven to al-Queda. They
wanted to seek the Taliban and find the al-Queda
leader, Osama Bin Laden. (War in Afghanistan
    2001-present

7
When did this war start?
  • Since May 1996, Osama Bin Laden had been living
in Afghanistan also with other members of
al-Qaeda. They operated terrorist training camps
in a loose alliance with the Taliban. After the
September 11, 2001 attacks, investigators rapidly
accumulated evidence implicating Bin Laden, who
initially publicly denied that he was involved in
the attacks. In 2006, it was reported that the
FBI has no hard evidence that Bin Laden was the
source of the attacks of September 11. However, a
while before the U.S presidential election of
2004, Bin Laden publicly, in a taped statement,
    acknowledged al-Qaedas involvement in the
attacks. He said the attacks were carried out
because "we are a free people who do not accept
injustice, and we want to regain the freedom of
    our nation.

8
When did this war start?
  • The Afghanistan war started because of the
attacks of September 11, 2001. However, because
there are two current wars involving the United
States, most of the money for the weapons an
everything else is going to the Iraq war. Because
of this, the Afghanistan war funds are lower and
    aren't enough.

9
How does the war affect soldiers and Afghans?
  • It is estimated that there are 1.5 million
    people suffering from starvation in
Afghanistan. Also 7.5 million people suffering as
a result of the Afghanistans 2 current
wars. These current wars are the civil war of
Afghanistan and the other war is the U.S.-led
    invasion

10
How does the war affect soldiers and Afghans?
  • But thanks to the United Nations World Food
Programs support, they send a daily distribution
rate of 3,000 tons of food a day. However, it is
estimated that 30,000 tons of food will be needed
to provide enough relief to the improverished
masses. Nevertheless, they are doing their part
to help save the millions of people from
    starvation.

11
How does the war affect soldiers and Afghans?
  • The people in Afghanistan are suffering from
starvation as a cause to the Afghanistan war. So
you should also support the soldiers over in
Afghanistan because they are also risking their
lives to protect our country from terrorism, not
    only the soldiers in Iraq.
