1Network N06 PANSI3 Network for ENHANCED
DISSEMINATION OF INFORMATION ON NUCLEAR
RESEARCH WITHIN EURONS
2PANSI3 Objectives
To enhance the outreach capabilities and the
dissemination of results of current research of
EURONS. Emphasis on the transfer of the
achievements throughout the EURONS scientific
community and to nearby scientific communities,
in particular to those in EC countries without
specific large infrastructure facilities.

Perspectives presented at the Groningen
meeting (1) the report for the layman should be
in form of a folder on EURONS (2) folder
should be ready for the end of 2007 (I3 call

18Workshop on Communication Techniques
COMMUNICATING RESEARCH RESULTS Activities and
Techniques GSI, April 24 28, 2006
- Objectives
- To enhance the outreach capabilities and the
dissemination of results of current research of
EURONS. An attempt to popularize research
understandable for the layman but also to improve
communication with nearby scientific communities,
journalist and decision makers. Emphasis should
be given to the transfer of the achievements of
EURONS also to communities in EC-countries
without specific large infrastructure facilities. - Topics
- Existing PR activities of the EURONS partner
- PR techniques for written presentations
- Web presentations
- Presentation techniques for dialogue
19Workshop on Communication Techniques
- Method
- Two research topics of EURONS were presented to
the participants - Nuclear structure at the drip line (Simon)
- Mass and half-life measurements of exotic
nuclei (Litvinov) - After the illustration of particular PR
techniques by professionals, the participants
have formed teams to work on the application of
these techniques to the presentation of the
proposed scientific results. The work of the
teams were supervised by the PR professionals.
Each team included young researchers,
practitioners and PANSI3 Steering Committee
members. - Presentations has been prepared using various PR
techniques - press release of research topics for the layman
- presentation of research results for the
general public - graphic presentation of research results
folders and flyers - presentation of research results to the
journalist FAQ preparation journalist
tecniques, press website preparation, interview

21Workshop on Communication Techniques
- Outcomes and conclusions
- General
- Professionel communication techniques can also
be applied for the dissemination of basic
research - The problems and difficulties in research
dissemination are quite similar in different
countries - Resistance to nuclear matters exists, but
differs between European countries - The value of team working is important
(critical mass, integration of experiences
and abilities, cultural enrichment) - EURONS
- Availability of a possible team to work on the
folder on the highlights of EURONS research for
the layman (2nd deliverable) - enhanced awareness of the importance of
efficient dissemination of results to the
general public, journalists, decision makers and
the nearby scientific communities - Create a corporate identity between members of
the research institutions within EURONS,
increasing the probability of cross fertilization
between individual projects
