Valencia College and NISOD have
asked San Jacinto College to participate in a
pilot, a new online professional development
learning opportunity for faculty to share ideas,
experiences, and learn from
one another. Teaching for Learning is designed
for any faculty member with strong content
expertise who appreciates a collaborative
development experience. This course
      Â
Teaching for Learning
- is structured as a regular classroom course
(orientation, syllabus, assignments, ongoing
discussion threads and assessments) but in
an online format - utilizes electronic case studies
- employs collaborative and problem-based learning
techniques - leverages the power of story, simulation and
role-playing - fosters reflection, judgment and deep insight

?Classroom Assessment Techniques Reading and
Writing ? Grading and Student Cheating ?
Balancing Life/Work
This course is scheduled for 6 weeks Maximum
class size capped at 18 The first cohort will
meet for a one-hour required orientation
on Tuesday, June 10, 2008 After orientation
session all other classes will be online
