Lucas 1232 - 48
32 En aquel tiempo, Jesús dijo a sus
discípulos No temas, rebañito mío, porque tu
Padre ha tenido a bien darte el Reino.
33 Vendan sus bienes y den limosnas.
Consíganse unas bolsas que no se destruyan y
acumulen en el cielo un tesoro que no se acaba,
allá donde no llega el ladrón, ni carcome la
polilla.

34 Porque donde está su tesoro, ahí estará su
corazón.
35 Estén listos, con la túnica puesta y las
lámparas encendidas.
36 Sean semejantes a los criados que están
esperando a que su señor regrese de la boda
para abrirle en cuanto llegue y toque.
37 Dichosos aquellos a quienes su señor, al
llegar, encuentre en vela. Yo les aseguro que
se recogerá la túnica, los hará sentar a la mesa
y él mismo les servirá.

38 Y si llega a medianoche o a la madrugada
y los encuentra en vela, dichosos ellos.
39 Fíjense en esto Si un padre de familia
supiera a qué hora va a venir el ladrón, estaría
vigilando y no dejaría que se le metiera por un
boquete en su casa.
40 Pues también ustedes estén preparados,
porque a la hora en que menos lo piensen vendrá
el Hijo del hombre.

41 Entonces Pedro le preguntó a Jesús Dices
esta parábola sólo por nosotros o por todos?
42 El Señor le respondió Supongan que un
administrador, puesto por su amo al frente de la
servidumbre, con el encargo de repartirles a su
tiempo los alimentos, se porta con fidelidad y
prudencia.
43 Dichoso este siervo, si el amo a su
llegada, lo encuentra cumpliendo con su deber.
44 Yo les aseguro que lo pondrá al frente de
todo lo que tiene.

45 Pero si este siervo piensa Mi amo tardará
en llegar y empieza a maltratar a los criados
y a las criadas, a comer, a beber y a
embriagarse,
46 el día menos pensado y a la hora más
inesperada, llegará su amo y lo castigará
severamente y le hará correr la misma suerte
que a los hombres desleales.
47 El servidor que, conociendo la voluntad de
su amo, no haya preparado ni hecho lo que
debía, recibirá muchos azotes pero el que,
sin conocerla, haya hecho algo digno de castigo,
recibirá pocos.

48 Al que mucho se le da, se le exigirá mucho,
y al que mucho se le confía, se le exigirá
mucho más.

32 Do not be afraid any longer, little flock,
for your Father is pleased to give you the
kingdom.
33 Sell your belongings and give alms. Provide
money bags for yourselves that do not wear out,
an inexhaustible treasure in heaven that no thief
can reach nor moth destroy.

34 For where your treasure is, there also will
your heart be.
35 Gird your loins and light your lamps
36 and be like servants who await their
master's return from a wedding, ready to open
immediately when he comes and knocks.
37 Blessed are those servants whom the master
finds vigilant on his arrival. Amen, I say to
you, he will gird himself, have them recline at
table, and proceed to wait on them.

38 And should he come in the second or third
watch and find them prepared in this way,
blessed are those servants.
39 Be sure of this if the master of the house
had known the hour when the thief was coming, he
would not have let his house be broken into.
40 You also must be prepared, for at an hour
you do not expect, the Son of Man will come.

41 Then Peter said, Lord, is this parable
meant for us or for everyone?
42 And the Lord replied, Who, then, is the
faithful and prudent steward whom the master
will put in charge of his servants to distribute
the food allowance at the proper time?
43 Blessed is that servant whom his master on
arrival finds doing so.
44 Truly, I say to you, he will put him in
charge of all his property.

45 But if that servant says to himself, My
master is delayed in coming, and begins to
beat the menservants and the maidservants, to
eat and drink and get drunk,
46 then that servant's master will come on an
unexpected day and at an unknown hour and
will punish him severely and assign him a place
with the unfaithful.
47 That servant who knew his master's will but
did not make preparations nor act in accord with
his will shall be beaten severely

48 and the servant who was ignorant of his
master's will but acted in a way deserving of a
severe beating shall be beaten only lightly.
Much will be required of the person entrusted
with much, and still more will be demanded of
the person entrusted with more.

In todays Gospel from St. Luke, Jesus gives
his disciples many beautiful sayings that we
treasure in our hearts.
En el Evangelio de hoy de San Lucas, Jesús da a
sus discípulos muchos hermosos dichos que
atesoramos en nuestros corazones.

First of all Jesus says we should not be afraid
because our heavenly Father is pleased to give us
the kingdom. If we would once really understand
what Jesus is trying to tell us, we would have
more confidence, and be relieved from anxiety
attacks, or panic attacks. Nothing would
disturb us, such that we would go about not
worrying about so many things.

Primeramente Jesús nos dice que no debemos tener
miedo porque le ha agradado a nuestro Padre
celestial concedernos el reino. Comprender una
sola vez a profundas lo que Jesús trata de
decirnos es todo lo que necesitamos pare tener
confianza en Él, y ser liberados de ataques de
ansiedad o de pánico. Nada nos molestaría,
de tal manera que no estuviéramos siempre
preocupados.

St. Peter Chrysologus (in Sermon 22) remarks
that the flock is little in the eyes of the
world, but great in the eyes of God. This is
because he calls glorious those whom he has
trained to the innocence of sheep and to
Christian meekness.

San Pedro Chrysologo (en Sermón 22) dice que el
rebaño es pequeño en los ojos del mundo, pero
grande en los ojos de Dios. Esto es porque Él
llama glorioso a aquellos quienes Él ha entrenado

If you trust in God the Father like a little
child trusts in his earthly father, you will
abide (live) in confidence. You know that
somehow God will see you through any difficulty.
Nothing is impossible for him. Be secure. Be
confident. Trust. Let God be God.

Si confías en Dios Padre como un niño confía en
su padre terrenal, habitarás en la confianza.
Sabes que de alguna manera Dios te ayudara a
superar cualquiera dificultad. Nada es imposible
para Él. Asegúrate. Ten confianza. Confía.

With that kind of trust you know that God is a
good Provider. He will provide. Cyril of
Alexandria (Commentary on Luke, Homily 91),
says Give away these earthly things, and win
that which is in heaven. Jesus says Sell
your possessions, and give alms. That is
like putting your money in the Lords bank, in
heaven. There, no thief can steal, and no
moth can destroy. Your money will gain interest
in heaven, just as it would on a bank on earth.
But you find out how much you earned in
interest the day you enter into the kingdom.

Con esa clase de confianza sabes que Dios es
alguien que provee muy bien. San Cirilio de
Alejandría (Comentario Acerca de Lucas, Homilia
91), dice Regala tus posesiones mundanas, y
gana lo celestial. Jesús dice Vende tus
posesiones, y da limosnas. Esto es como poner
tu dinero en el Banco del Señor, en el cielo.
Allí, ningún ladrón puede robar, ni echa a
perder la polilla. Tu dinero ganara interés en
el cielo, así como en un banco de este mundo.
Pero encontrarás cuanto interés ganaste el día
que entres al reino.

Then follow a series of warnings to the disciples
to be alert. In the Middle East they wore long
garments to work. They would tuck up their
girdles when it came time to be ready for
immediate and energetic action. That is why the
Lord says Let your loins be girded. When
the Master (Jesus) comes, he will gird himself
and have his disciples sit at table, and he will
come and serve them.

Luego sigue una serie de amonestaciones para que
los discípulos estén alertas. En el Medio
Oriente se usan vestiduras largas para trabajar.
Pero se aprietan el cinturón cuando es tiempo
para acción inmediata y enérgica. Por eso dice
el Señor, Tengan la túnica puesta. Cuando su
Señor (Jesús) venga, se recogerá la túnica, los
hará sentar a la mesa y Él mismo les servirá.

Loyal servants keep all-night vigils, just in
case their Master returns unexpectedly from the
marriage feast. They make sure he will not catch
them napping when he comes. In other words,
dont lose the sense of urgency. Jesus said,
The kingdom of heaven is close at hand. Repent,
and believe in the gospel (Mark 115) !

Los siervos fieles guardan vigilia toda la noche,
por si acaso su señor regrese inesperadamente de
su fiesta de boda. Se aseguran que Él no los
encontrara dormidos cuando venga. No pierdan el
sentido de urgencia. Jesús dice El reino de
los cielos ya esta cerca. Arrepiéntanse y
crean en el evangelio (Marcos 115) !

Every time we say the Our Father, we pray for his
kingdom to come, right away, every day, every
moment of our lives. In him we move and live
and have our being (Acts 1728), there is no
reason to get bored and depressed and tired
of living. The moments when Jesus comes with his
kingdom are so important, so decisive. It is so
important to be well prepared.

Cada vez que decimos el Padre Nuestro, pedimos
que su reino venga pronto, todos los días, a
cada momento de nuestras vidas. En Él somos,
vivimos, y tenemos nuestra existir (Hechos
1728). No hay razón porque estar aburridos o
deprimidos o cansados de estar viviendo. Los
momentos cuando Jesús viene con su reino, son
tan importantes, tan decisivos, que es
importante estar bien preparados.

He is the bridegroom, we are the bride, and in
Revelations 197-8, it says Let us rejoice
and exult and give him glory, for the
marriage of the Lamb has come, and his Bride
(the church) has made herself ready. Blessed
are those who are invited to the marriage supper
of the Lamb. This is an event so important
that everything else pales in significance.

Él es el novio, nosotros somos la novia.
Revelaciones 197-8 nos dice Hagamos fiesta,
saltemos de gozo y démosle a Él la gloria,
porque han llegado las bodas del Cordero
Bienaventurados los que están invitados a las
bodas del Cordero. Este acontecimiento es tan
importante que todo lo demás es pálido en
comparación.

The bride has been granted to be clothed with
fine linen, bright and pure - for the fine
linen is the righteous deeds of the saints
(Revelations 198).
La novia se ha concedido estar vestida de lino
fino, resplandeciente y puro - porque el lino
fino son las acciones justas de los santos
(Apocalipsis 198).

The lamp apparently represents the wakefulness of
the mind and intellectual cheerfulness. One who
has slumbered off into carelessness has become
subject to all kinds of wickedness. Such a one
is sunk in stupor, and the heavenly light
within the mind is liable to be endangered
(Cyril of Alexandria, cited above).

La lámpara encendida representa la vigilia de la
mente y el gozo intelectual. Uno que se ha
dormido sin tener cuidado se ha sometido a toda
clase de perversidad. Tal es uno que se hunde en
el estupor, y la luz celestial dentro de la
mente probablemente esté en peligro. (Cirilio de
Alejandría, citado arriba).

Awake, O sleeper, and arise from the dead
and Christ shall give you light (Ephesians
514).
Despierta, dormilón, y levántate de los
muertos y Cristo te dará la luz (Efesios
514).
