per morire di sete proverbio orientale
After 40 days you can die if you dont eat, but
5 days are enough to die if you dont drink
3World
4 Water is a very important topic in the world.
Around the world there are many water problems
that in some way involve each one of us. Here are
the most important water facts.
5Waterfacts
- A child die every fifteen seconds from a disease
caused by lack of access to safe drinking water,
inadequate sanitation and poor hygiene. - Around four million people die every year from
water- related diseases. - Women in Africa and Asia walk an average distance
of 6km a day to collect water. - Half of the worlds developing hospital beds are
occupied by victims of unsafe water and
sanitation. - Malaria is one of the most critical problems of
today in Africa- and elsewhere. Approximately
7000 people die every day from Malaria. Improved
sanitation and vector control can break this
trend.
6Water in the world
People can fourty days without food but ony five
days without water. Thats a big problem in a lot
of countries. Mostly the people in the south of
the world are very poor so they cant use water.
In the world there is a lot of water, but not
every country have enough water. There are other
countries who have to much water. For example
the Netherlands. Italy also have a lot of water.
We have red an article about the Nile in Egypt.
The river is very important for the people . The
people do everything with the water out the Nile.
They take a shower in it and they also drink the
water. People in Egypt fight for the water. Its
a very dry country and so there is not a lot of
water. Thats the reason why there are a lot of
wars for water. This is the same with the rivers
Zambesi and Gange.
7Problems which has to do with water
- Greenhouse effect ? less sources in the world,
more demands for water - ? People are making the world warmer
- ? Solution lasting energie
-
- Desertification ? the land dries out
- ? People are using to much land and the climate
is changing (greenhouse effect) - ? Solution save water
-
- Irregular divided water ? sometimes to much
water, sometimes less water - ? Weather
- ? Solution plant trees around dikes / build
dikes / accept ? because we cant do much against
the problem -

9The water-use in the host-families
Now in Italy its raining and thats not very
normal in this season. We live in a village
called Roccascalegna and there is a little
problem with waterthere is a lot of hills and
when it rain the water goes down on the
ground, near the house and for the people is a
problem because theres a lot of puddles.

12Water waste in Italy
Water, like oxygen and food, is a vital
necessity, so it should be considered a basic
right for human beings and it should be used like
a common good.
One third of italians hasnt got a regular and
sufficient acces to portable water.
In part this is caused by weather, because in hot
seasons there is few rain. But the problem is
mostly caused by an inadeguate use of teritory
and of natural resources. Water resource is
used in an eccesive way and with lots of wastes.
13Italy is the country of the European Union that
gets the highest quality of water per person. We
occupy the first place on using water for house
use ( 249 liters per person a day ( when they are
only needed) Of these 249 liters just 3 liters
are used to drink, 30 is used to flush the
toilets, another 30 in the washing machine and
dishwater, taking a shower or having a bath. Its
been calculated that we use about 18 liters of
water per day just letting it flow when we wait
for it to get hot. When we talk about
agriculture, that in our country wastes between
50 and 60 of all water we have, we are one of
the countries that wastes the highest quantity of
water to irrigate our lands.
14POLLUTION OF SEA
- CAUSES OF POLLUTION
- Industries rubbish chimical substances like
mercury, chromium, lead...etc. - Pesticides and herbicides used in agriculture
- Radio-active rubbishes and nuclear reactors
- Refuse of sewer
- Oil-bearing refuses.
-
15Italy gt north/south
- In Italy the people buy water in bottles
because the water they have at home they dont
like. There are different marks. In 1999 the
government of Europe said that the groundwater
isnt good enough to use for drinkwater. Thats
the reason why they buy water in bottles. But
some of the Italian people are not agree with it,
and they say that groundwater is sometimes better
than mineraal water. - In north Italy they have
100 water but they use 15 of it. In South Italy
they have 50 water and they use everything, but
thats not enough they need more. Also the
Islands of Italy havent enough. They have
10-20. There is a simple reason why the people
in North Italy have more water than the people in
the South. Its because theyre more rich.

19CASCATE DI ROSELLO
In Abruzzo there is a little town called
Rossello. Here is a little oasis, there are a lot
of plants, animals are protected by WWF. Near
this place there are nice, small, high falls. They
falls down about 100 metres.
On Thuesday we dont go to this because the
weather was bad, it was too slippery. Its a pity
because it must be very beautiful.
