  someone carefully or in order to gain information.

• describes the process of learning through
  watching others, retaining the information and
  then later replicating the behaviors that were
  observed.

Albert Bandura

•  Is a psychologist who is the David Starr Jordan
  Professor Emeritus of Social Science in
  Psychology at Stanford University.
•  He is known as the originator of social learning
  theory and the theoretical construct
  of self-efficacy, and is also responsible for the
  influential 1961 Bobo doll experiment.

Stages of Observational Learning

• Attention
• Retention
• Motor Reproduction
• Motivation
• Reinforcement

Attention

• Observers cannot learn unless they pay attention
  to what's happening around them.

Retention

• Observers must not only recognize the observed
  behavior but also remember it at some later time.

Motor Reproduction

• Observers must be physically and/intellectually
  capable of producing the act.

Motivation

• observers will perform the act only if they have
  some motivation or reason to do so.

Reinforcement

• A consequence that will strengthen an organism's
  future behavior whenever that behavior is
  preceded by a specific antecedent motivation. It
  can either increase or decrease the likelihood of
  a behavior being repeated.
