Title: 2nd Sunday

1
2nd Sunday
  • Lenten Season (A)

2
  • This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well
    pleased listen to him.

3
1st Reading
  • Abram was obedient and faithful to the Lords
call. He put his trust in the Lords Words.
  • He left his homeland and went to another land as
    the Lord directed him.
  • Today we call him the father of our faith, for
he trusted and obeyed Gods Word.

4
2nd Reading
  • Paul reminds us to bear our share of hardship
for the gospel (Word of God).
  • Our life as Christians demand fidelity, sacrifice
and conformity to the gospel message.

5
Gospel
  • Jesus was transfigured on the mountain with Moses
and Elijah. Out of the cloud the Father
confirmed Jesus as His beloved Son. He gave us
also a direct command of listening to His Words.

6
DABAR
  • The Hebrew word DABAR means both word and
deed or happening. So dabar Yahweh is not
only His word but also action.
  • St. Thomas Aquinas wrote Dicere Dei est
facere. means Gods act of saying is His act of
    doing. (See Gen 13,6,9)

7
  • Summing it all up, the biblical word call more
for OBEDIENCE, rather than mere reflection.
Obedience is an act of listening and doing what
    is listened to.
  • In fact, the Hebrew word for the verb to obey
is shama leqol which literally means to listen
    to the voice of.

8
  • Am I ready and willing to listen and obey Jesus
    words during this Lenten season?
