Title: Oxygen Debt
1(No Transcript)
2Oxygen Debt
This can be seen quite clearly after performers
have been engaged.
In high intensity short duration activities such
as the sprint events in athletics.
100m, 200m, 400m or swimming 50m, 100m, 200m
White Water Canoeing
Mountain Biking
Sprint Cycling
In events which you are largely using the C.P.
system.
3Oxygen Debt
Rather like any debt it must be paid back.
When you go into over-draught in the bank, it
means that there is insufficient funds in your
account (any bank manager will tell you this
cannot be allowed to continue). So to when you
are performing in these sprint activities there
is insufficient oxygen been brought into your
body to sustain the activity. Obviously your
body will not allow this to continue.
4Therefore like a good borrower it pays back the
oxygen that the body needs. This is why we see
athletes puffing and panting vigorously after
these activities in order to restore the body's
balance.
Or in banking terms to get out of the red and
back into the black. In other words no more over
draught but back into credit.
