Brook Trout
  • Are sometimes called speckled trout
  • Is the PA state fish
  • Can live in slightly acidic water but does not
    survive well in warm temps.

Rainbow Trout
  • Native to California and Alaska
  • Most in PA are stocked, hatchery raised fish
  • Identified by the pink strip running down the side

Brown Trout
  • Feed mainly at night
  • Difficult to catch can live up to 12 yrs
  • Big ones eat fish, small mammals, salamanders,
    frogs and turtles

Golden Rainbow Trout
  • This fish was selectively breed from one fish
    that had a genetic mutation
  • In PA this fish has been breed with rainbow trout
    to form palominos
  • This trout does not survive well in the wild

  • Habitat is in aquatic weeds
  • Commonly known as sunnies
