7Probation and Disqualification
- Students place themselves on probation when when
their overall GPA is less than a C (2.0).
Thus, their overall GPBD is negative. They
remain on probation until this is corrected or
they are disqualified. - Students whose GPBD reaches the following are
disqualified - Class Level GPA GPBD
- Freshman (0-44 units) lt1.50 22
- Sophomore (45-89 units) lt1.70 22
- Juniors (90-134 units) lt1.85 13
- Seniors (135 units) lt1.95 9

- When placed on probation, students must attend a
Probation Workshop. (Temporarily discontinued.) - When disqualified, students may petition for
reinstatement. They must go to the Undergraduate
Advisement Center/SH 256B to begin the process. - If denied reinstatement, students must
- hold an exit interview with their academic
advisor, and complete a contract describing what
must be achieved before being allowed to return. - stay out of school at least 2 quarters, and then
reapply for admission to the University and the
CBE.
10Repeating Courses For Academic Renewal
- Students may repeat a course one time if the
grade is lower than a C, and have the first
grade not counted in their GPA/GPDB. - This procedure is limited to a maximum 20 units,
and only applies to courses taken at CSLA. - Students should file the petition by the add
deadline of the quarter in which they repeat the
course. Retroactive petitions may or may not be
accepted. - Check the catalog for more academic renewal
information.
