Dom Testa has been working with Colorado school
kids for more than fifteen years. As a co-host
of the 1 rated Dom and Jane show on Mix 100
Radio in Denver, he has used that platform to
promote juvenile literacy.
Besides authoring three best-selling books for
young adults, Dom hosts writing workshops for
teenagers at metro area libraries. While many
people express concern that young people no
longer have an interest in writing, these
workshops not only fill up, but almost always
result in a waiting list.
This passion for encouraging the creative spark
also takes Dom to area schools, where he speaks
on reading, writing, and artistic inspiration.
Targeted to grades 4 through 8, his programs
involve audience participation, creative

Assemblies and Workshops
Assembly 45 minutes Multiple classes and/or
grades This program, geared towards large groups
(i.e. multiple classes and/or grades) highlights
the concepts of idea generation and creativity.
Students volunteer in a variety of exercises,
with lessons in theme, creative expression, and

hop A Building A Story 50 minutes Up to 30
students This high-energy session focuses on
building a story from the ground up, blending
ideas, characters, and organization. Students
learn to tap into their imagination, create
3-dimensional characters, paint mental pictures,
and organize all of the pieces. The emphasis of
this workshop is on writing, not listening to a
lecture. The students will be busy! TRAITS
Ideas, Organization Workshop B The Art of
Writing 50 minutes Up to 30 students In this
fun-filled workshop, students learn the art of
story craftsmanship. The emphasis is on
language, voice, and revision. Each student will
participate in writing exercises, and be able to
see their own progress in less than an hour. All

After more than seven months in space, the
